I just wanted to give a very big Thank you to Dr Melissa Kozaruk. Yesterday Melissa performed a full 5/5 boas surgery on mine and my partners best friend Freddie. If my partner had not agreed to getting the pre-anaesthetic safety package before Freddie’s desexing, I would never have known the underlying problems little Freddie boy had going on. Nor the fact he had stage 1 laryngeal collapse. Freddie is my first pet, and he has been a blessing. Ever since a pup he has always been active, energetic and agile, loving and just so sweet. I never noticed any symptoms, regarding boas whilst he was growing mainly for the fact I was uneducated and was unaware what to look for, I thought snoring was normal, I thought that his panting was normal, I thought that his reflux with that being ever so often was normal.

I couldn’t recommend Melissa enough, she was very prompt with booking Freddie in a.s.a.p. Freddie was discharged same day he received the best care, a detailed time table for his medication and lots of instructions of after care!

we have noticed already his breathing is noticeably clearer !!! He is still happy and giving me lots of kisses and cuddles as usual which is amazing. All the benefits and risks were all mentioned prior to surgery and I had the chance to ask as many questions as I needed. I am just so grateful and I know Freddie will be grateful to !

We are so excited for him to heal so everyone can be updated on the difference it has made And I couldn’t believe the before photos as opposed to after. it is amazing what experienced vets are capable of!

Melissa was recommended to me by another vet who also specialises in brachy breeds, when I was having trouble getting the right care for my 6 month old British Bulldog.  I travelled almost 3 hours each way to see Melissa, and it was well worth it to know that my boy was being cared for by someone so experienced and passionate about brachy breeds.

Melissa’s knowledge and experience with brachy breeds is second to none. She went above and beyond to ensure that my boy received the right treatment and care each time, and even went a step further to check him over for specific health concerns which are extremely common in Bulldogs. Not only did she update me on her findings but gave me recommendations and advice to ensure by boy could live his best life as happy and healthy as possible!

Melissa truly is an extremely knowledgeable, caring and passionate vet who I will continue to travel to see to ensure my boy gets the best possible care and attention.

Thank you Melissa for taking such amazing care of Bronx! .

Dr Melissa Kozaruk did our two boys BOAS SURGERY, King George an English Bulldog and Sir Elton, a mini Aussie Bulldog at the end of last year. I can’t speak highly enough of Melissa’s and the Erina Heights Veterinary Hospital care, it was second to none!

Both boys are doing so much better now and my only regret is that I wasn’t more informed to do it earlier.

My little Frenchie Tammy HAD HER BOAS SURGERY done by Melissa on the 12/01/2023. She is doing great! no more snoring and breathing better, wouldn't know she had an operation like that. Would also like to say thanks to Melissa and the team for looking after her.

Melissa has been my animals’ vet for many years. In that time, she has shown exemplary care and knowledge in all encounters. She goes above and beyond to take care of all the animals she is responsible for, as well as their human counterparts. Melissa is an exceptional vet and I have no hesitations in recommending her.

When my dog Evie hurt her leg and was in pain and limping, I decided to get a second opinion and I am so glad I did. Dr Mel accurately diagnosed the condition as a luxating patella, and took the time to explain everything very clearly to me. I decided to go ahead with her recommendation of surgery, and was able to get the operation done the next day, even though they had to squeeze it in to an already full schedule.
The level of care shown was absolutely fantastic, and Mel impressed me so much with her thoroughness, but also because she was gentle with Evie and genuinely seemed to care and make sure I was fully informed all the way. I got a phone call post surgery to give me an update, and was even sent a photo to show how well Evie was doing. It was such a wonderful surprise which took a lot of worry out of the process and gave me confidence that everything was going smoothly. The post surgery care has been equally great, and Evie has made a terrific and full recovery.

I was fortunate enough to spend two clinical rotations with Dr Melissa. She was helpful in guiding me through some of my first surgical experiences and was always there to answer any queries I may have had about cases I saw throughout the day. I was always be thankful to her for her time and effort. I greatly enjoyed my time at her clinic and would recommend her as a fantastic vet and mentor.
